FREEBIE: Strengths Alignment Checklist
The Strengths Alignment Checklist is for YOU.
I designed this free tool to help you pause, realign with your strengths, and connect them to your leadership vision. It’s not about personality quizzes or fluff – it’s a practical gut check to clarify some leadership qualities that may come naturally, and reveal areas of growth so you can continue to evolve in your role as a leader or aspiring leader.
Whether you're eyeing your next promotion, pivoting to something new, or just ready to show up with more confidence, this checklist will help you:
Identify the strengths you’re underutilizing
Spot opportunities to advocate for yourself
Reconnect you with your unique leadership style
Step 1: Identify your strengths
Start by recognizing the unique skills, qualities, and talents you bring to your unique leadership practice.
Check off the strengths that resonate with you.
Highlight your top five strengths – the ones you lean on most in your leadership style.
Circle 2-3 strengths you’d be interested in developing over the next six months.
Use these prompts to reflect further:
What are the things people frequently compliment or seek your advice on?
When do you feel most confident and in flow at work?
What leadership activities energize you rather than drain you?
Which challenges do you naturally solve with ease?
How does your cultural identity influence the way you lead, connect, or problem-solve?
Step 2: Connect your strengths to your leadership vision
Now that you’ve identified your strengths, you can intentionally leverage them in your leadership journey. A few things to think about as you fill out page 3:
When have I used these strengths successfully in my leadership or career?
What kind of leader do you want to become in the next 1-3 years? How do your strengths support that vision?
Are there any strengths you underutilize that could make a difference in your leadership?
How do your strengths fill a gap in your team or organization?
Where do I see opportunities to leverage them even more?
Step 3: Align your strengths with organizational needs
To really boost your career, consider how your strengths align with what your company or industry values. Take these prompts to your leadership journal:
How do these strengths help me contribute to my team and organization?
What leadership competencies does your organization prioritize (e.g., communication, strategic thinking, innovation, collaboration)?
How can your strengths enhance team dynamics and create a stronger workplace culture?
Where can you speak up, take on projects, or mentor others in a way that plays to your strengths?
Who in your organization can sponsor or mentor you to help you grow in your leadership role?
Step 4: Create a leadership action plan
Now let’s put your insights into action!
Set a goal: What’s one strength-based leadership goal for the next 90 days?
Find an accountability partner: Who can help you stay on track?
Track your progress: What small wins can you celebrate along the way?
Advocate for yourself: How can you start verbalizing your strengths in meetings, reviews, or leadership conversations?
I want to be sure you know that your strengths are already within you – this is simply about recognizing, refining, and owning them. If you’re new to Rising Legacy, your leadership legacy starts right now!
